This is Gods response to finding His Word, Believing His Word, Enquiring of Him:
18…Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard;
19 Because thine heart was tender, and thou hast humbled thyself before the Lord, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith the Lord.
20 Behold therefore, I will gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered into thy grave in peace; and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
Those who find His Word, Believe, and Enquire as to how to please and have a relationship with God will “be gathered into thy grave in peace, and thine eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place”
Each man and woman will be saved into the Kingdom of God on their own relationship with God. The King found a new relationship in the root of his heart for God and was saved – not from death but from eternal damnation. None of us will be saved from death, though that fills many of our prayers to stay in this yucky world as long as possible and stay out of heaven – doesn’t really speak much of confidence in what awaits us as described in the Bible.
The Kings faith in God did not save the people (in this case) and the people couldn’t suck off the Kings faith to gain what they did not go to God for themselves, on their knees, tearing their clothes because of their sin and humbling themselves and enquiring more of Gods Will and making that relationship with God, not just a prayer to God – but a relationship.
We might want to examine as this King did when he was brough the Truth, that it broke his heart because of the power of God and his sin that was brought to his attention. The King didn’t kill the messenger of Truth but embraced Truth and wanted a relationship with Truth.
Do we want a relationship with Truth? or want to hide out behind a faded relationship with Jesus Christ, as Jesus can only be Truth for He can not be a liar. The devil says Jesus is a liar, that Jesus isn’t The Word, The Way, and The Life and that surely we will not die in our sin. The Bible says the Truth, whether you want to read it or not.
Just because we don’t read it, doesn’t make it not true. Just because we don’t read it, it doesn’t save us from Truth being Truth and the punishment for sin being death and eternal life in the lake of fire.
If you been looking for another truth, you may have put yourself under the authority that can not save you, that does not love you, that did not die for you to give you the “opportunity” to go to Heaven. There is only one Name, one Authority that can save and that Name and Authority is Jesus Christ and His character, nature, will and authority are alive and active in The Word of God we have in our possession called The Bible.
